A video trimmer for the recordings you choose
This video trimmer workflow uses BlitzCut on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Trim the start and end of a recording, split out an unwanted section, and review the remaining clips on the timeline. Free download with paid features. BlitzCut is also available on Android through Google Play.

You already know which recording you want to use. It just starts before you are ready, includes a restart in the middle, or keeps running after the final sentence. You need to choose those boundaries yourself and hear how the remaining sections join.
Use BlitzCut's manual trimming and splitting tools to shape the recording you selected. Shorten the ends, split around a mistake, and delete the unwanted section. For spoken footage, the same project also offers transcript editing, adjustable silence removal, captions, image overlays, and audio tracks. Watch the picture and listen across each cut before you export.
Everything you need, in one app
Manual start and end trimming
Remove the setup before a take and the extra footage after it. Set boundaries around the actual words or action you want viewers to see.
Split and delete inside a recording
Cut around a restart, interruption, or unrelated passage. Remove that section and review how the clips on either side connect.
Silence removal with visual review
Use adjustable silence removal when a spoken recording contains unwanted gaps. Review the resulting cuts in playback and on the timeline, keeping pauses that support the explanation.
Transcript edits for spoken passages
Find a repeated sentence in the transcript and delete the corresponding spoken passage. Choose the take yourself, then listen to the new transition.
Captions for the trimmed version
Generate captions from the speech and correct any transcription errors. Check their timing against the finished edit, especially around the new opening and ending.
Images and audio for the final edit
Add a supporting image overlay or an imported audio track when the shorter clip needs context. Check that each element still starts and ends where you intend.
How it works
Three steps from raw footage to finished video.
Import the recording you want to trim
Open the installed BlitzCut app and add your chosen video. Watch it once to identify the first useful frame, the ending, and any section in the middle you want to remove.
Trim the ends and split the middle
Adjust the clip boundaries to shorten the beginning and ending. To remove an internal section, split at its start and end, select that section, and delete it. Play across the join to check the words and action.
Review the edit and export
Check that the first word and final action remain complete. Add captions or supporting visuals if needed, choose the frame and export settings, then watch the saved video before sharing it.

The actual iPhone timeline keeps the picture, original audio, and image overlay visible together. Review their timing after trimming a clip.

Frequently asked questions
- Is BlitzCut available on Android?
- Yes. BlitzCut is built for talking-head videos and is now available on Android through Google Play. The workflows and screenshots on this page describe the Apple apps. Check Google Play and the Android app for current Android features, device compatibility, and purchase options.
- How do I trim the beginning and end of a video?
- Import your chosen recording into BlitzCut, select the clip on the timeline, and adjust its start and end boundaries. Play the opening and closing to check that you have kept complete words and actions. Export after reviewing the result.
- Can I cut a section out of the middle?
- Yes. Split the clip at the beginning and end of the unwanted section, select that section, and delete it. Watch and listen across the join afterward. A cut that looks tidy on the timeline can still interrupt a sentence or a demonstration.
- Is this an online video trimmer?
- BlitzCut is an installed app for Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Get the Android app from Google Play. For the Apple workflow shown here, download BlitzCut from the App Store and import your video to trim it. This page does not provide a browser editor or an upload form for trimming videos online.
- Does automatic silence removal replace manual trimming?
- They serve different purposes. Manual trimming keeps the section you choose; silence removal shortens detected gaps within spoken footage. Use either as needed. Silence detection does not decide which repeated take has the meaning or delivery you want to keep.
- Can I add captions after trimming?
- Yes. BlitzCut includes captions, transcript editing, image overlays, and audio tracks in the editing workflow. Finish the main cuts, correct the caption wording, and check that captions and any added images still match the remaining speech before exporting.
- Is the video trimmer free to use?
- BlitzCut is free to download with paid features and in-app purchases. A free download does not mean every editing or export feature is included without payment. Check the App Store and the app's purchase screen for current access and any trial eligibility.
