Speed Up or Slow Down Any Video — 0.5x to 4x
Change playback speed on your whole video or a single clip, with audio that stays natural instead of turning into a chipmunk. Works on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Your video runs 90 seconds and the platform wants 60. Or the demo section drags and the hook needs to hit faster. Most editors bury speed controls three menus deep, and the ones that don't wreck your audio the moment you go past 1.5x.
BlitzCut lets you set playback speed on the whole timeline or any selected clip, anywhere from 0.5x slow motion to 4x fast-forward. Pitch correction keeps your voice sounding like your voice, so a sped-up section still sounds like speech rather than a cartoon.
Everything you need for speed control
0.5x to 4x range
Slow motion for detail shots, up to 4x for fast-forwarding the parts nobody needs at full length.
Per-clip or whole-video
Speed up one dragging section without touching the pace of everything around it.
Natural-sounding audio
Pitch correction keeps sped-up speech intelligible instead of high-pitched and unusable.
Stacks with silence removal
Cut the dead air first, then speed up what's left — the fastest way to hit a length limit.
How speed control works
Three steps from raw footage to finished video.
Import your video
Add a clip from your camera roll, screen recording, or podcast export.
Pick a speed
Choose a preset from 0.5x to 4x, or set your own — for the full video or just the clip you selected.

Frequently asked questions
- Does speeding up a video ruin the audio?
- Not in BlitzCut. Pitch correction keeps voices at their normal pitch as the speed increases, so a 2x section still sounds like a person talking quickly rather than a chipmunk. Past about 3x, speech gets hard to follow regardless of pitch — that range is for footage you want fast-forwarded, not listened to.
- Can I speed up just one part of the video?
- Yes. Select a clip on the timeline and apply the speed to that clip only. The rest of the video keeps its original pace.
- Does speed control work on iPhone and iPad?
- Yes. Speed control runs natively on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and projects sync across devices — start on your phone and finish on your Mac.
- What speed should I use for TikTok or Reels?
- 1.1x to 1.25x is the usual choice for tightening a talking-head video without it reading as sped up. Anything above 1.5x becomes noticeable, which is fine for a deliberate fast-forward section and distracting for a whole video. If your goal is a shorter runtime rather than a faster feel, remove the silence first — it usually gets you there without touching speed at all.
- Does speeding up a video lower the quality?
- No. Speed changes which frames play and when; it doesn't re-compress your footage. BlitzCut exports at full quality regardless of the speed you set.
